Queneau's collection French

This collection originates from the photocopies of original documents (manuscripts, personal notes) by Raymond Queneau, kept by Jean-Marie Queneau, son and assignee of Raymond Queneau. 30 000 A4 sheets, in 100 boxes, have been counted. It has been completed by a press review by Raymond Queneau himself- he was a subscriptor to the press Argus until the sixties- which had been completed afterwards.

In 1987, the CIDRE (International Center of Raymond Queneau Research Documentation and Edition) is created in Limoges at the initiative of Queneau’s admirors, including Marcel Troulay, director of the University’s library, who provided premises.

  • A collection of Queneau’s published works, thanks to a Gallimard’s donation.
  • An ideal library, gathering books that Queneau read and mentionned in his notebooks.
  • Audiovisuals documents, radio and television broadcasts, but without proper authorization therefore unusable publically.
  • Thesis
  • Foreign editions (donations of Jean-Marie Queneau)

A decade later, financial and inner problems would lead to the cessation of the CIDRE’s activities. In 2003, University’s library of Limoges and Jean-Marie Queneau offer the collection to the Dijon University’s library . The material and intellectual processing, digitisation and computing aspects, juridic matter, scientific management and searching of partners, are approached by a small team who annually gathers a scientific commission so as to associate personalities (outside the University field). Works of trainees from Burgundy’s University or from future professionnals of the library field are also part of the Queneau’s workgroup.
